William Morris Close, Oxford
Scheme Summary: 86 Residential Units
Site Status: Under Construction
Cantay Estates purchased this site 2012 as part of our acquisition of the former Lord Nuffield Club. In 2013 the club building was sold to Chapel Street Community Church after planning permission was achieved for conversion to a free school. The residual part of the site comprised a circa 3 acre former playing field which was retained for future development.
Following multiple attempts Cantay secured a planning permission for a development of 86 dwellings in early 2020 including 50% affordable housing, the provision of a large element of public open space, and a £600,000 contribution for the improvement of sports facilities at other City sites as mitigation for the alleged loss of the sports facilities. It is anticipated that the latter will be substantially expended on the resurfacing and remodelling of the existing facility at St Gregory the Great School where a Community Use Agreement will be put in place.
The proposed development has now been forward sold to Legal & General Affordable Homes on a turnkey basis. All of the properties are now to be of an affordable tenure and therefore this is now a 100% affordable development.
The completion of the development is anticipated in Autumn 2022, though an earlier phased handover will be considered.
Cantay are extremely excited to be attached to the programme for the provision of affordable homes in Oxford.
